Meanwhile, Torchwood
May. 13th, 2008 04:26 pmThe season 2 episode To the Last Man gave us in flashback a glimpse at the Torchwood of WWI, and I kept hoping this would inspire fanfic. Now it has, and great fanfiction, too. Here it is, with an excellent sense of period and plausible degree of TW-inherent messed-up-ness:
Far off, like a dull rumour of some other war
The time between seasons is an obvious gift to fanfic. Between s1 and 2, Jack's absence seems to have done wonders for team spirit (surpresses obvious comment here), and here's a plausible take on how our dysfunctional lot in Cardiff pulled themselves together and came through:
Inbetween Days
On a lighthearted note, Gwen's honeymoon, which must have happened between Something Borrowed and Out from the Rain, is another gift to fanfic. Because you know she wouldn't have been able to escape her job entirely, but you also know Rhys would have been with her all the way. (Seriously, Gwen/Rhys has become my TW OTP. The rest of you can have Jack and Ianto.) (But not Owen/his issues. That's my other TW OTP.) Read and enjoy:
